A custom foyer welcomes you into the home showcasing an open floor plan with beautiful pecan hardwood floors with a wonderful indoor-outdoor flow and a subtle Japanese influence throughout. Custom-made cherry shoji screens frame the sliding glass doors and the entry to the living room, where skylights plus the custom tatami mats are juxtaposed to a modern kitchen with polished granite countertops, stainless appliances, and ample storage. This is a subtle integration of Eastern and Western styles. The kitchen is the heart of this level and offers access to the formal dining area for entertaining and a cozy family room space for casual living. Ceiling-mounted speakers transform the family room into the perfect place for a movie night. Access to the outdoors is a breeze from any room. Sliding doors from the living room lead to a large redwood deck and another set of sliding doors lead from the family room open to a lovely patio bordered by mature landscaping. A half-bath with a custom cabinet, and a two-car garage complete the lower level.

The upper floor has all four bedrooms - the primary suite has a large walk-in closet and a home office area (the 4th bedroom), which is complemented by a balcony where one can appreciate nature and Marin’s great open space. The remaining bedrooms upstairs are spacious with large closets and lots of light, including views of the hills or gardens. Adjacent to open space and close to the park and tennis courts, the location couldn’t be better. There is easy access to nature and the countryside while still feeling close to the City and integrated into the culture of Marin.

The county seat of Marin, San Rafael is large, diverse, eclectic, and historic. That history stretches from California's beginnings, with the 1817 founding of Mission San Rafael on the old El Camino Real, to the construction of the eye-popping Marin Civic Center in the 1960s. Designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, the Civic Center was completed in 1962 and is so futuristic that it pops up in science-fiction films.
San Rafael still looks to the future thanks to a vibrant downtown redevelopment effort. The focal point of downtown is the Smith Rafael Film Center, which features a state–of-the-art multiplex cinema that screens independent and foreign films.  Cuisine is eclectic: within a few blocks of 4th Street diners can find sushi, Indian, Thai, Italian, Mexican, and Puerto Rican food. Thursday afternoons in the spring and summer find 4th Street hosting a farmers market, which features live music.
The neighborhoods of San Rafael are equally distinctive. From the sought-after midcentury Eichler homes of Terra Linda to the Victorians that surround Dominican College and the custom homes of Lucas Valley, San Rafael provides diversity of price and style.
It's also easy to get away from it all in San Rafael. Nearby China Camp State Park is a jewel by the bay, offering: a kid-friendly, walk-in campground for tents only; a shallow, protected swimming beach; and biking and running trails.
